Omani Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology Eng. Said bin Hamad al-Maawali confirmed today that Oman's position on the Strait of Hormuz is clear: it is a natural strait not created by man, therefore, transit fees cannot be imposed. Speaking at the State Council of Oman, al-Maawali stated that the Sultanate has signed all international agreements on maritime transport, and imposing fees would violate these accords. He added that many countries, including Iran and the United States, have not signed these agreements, creating a legal vacuum. 'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is holding discussions on this matter, and we hope for a positive outcome,' the minister affirmed.
