
Today, the UAE joined the celebration of the 54th anniversary of the National Day of Oman, which is annually celebrated on November 18. The Emirates participated in this festivity, marking significant relations between the two countries, which are rooted in deep brotherly ties and mutual strategic partnership. The development of relations between the UAE and Oman continues to strengthen with the support and guidance of leaders: President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman.
Both countries signed agreements and memorandums totaling 129 billion dirhams, focused on such sectors as renewable energy projects, green mineral industry, iron road connectivity, and investments in digital infrastructure and technology, combined partnerships between the UAE Ministry of Investments and the Oman Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investments.
Culturally, the UAE and Oman share a rich historical legacy in arts and literature, with deep connections in the field of art, traditions, and ancestral ties. This has only strengthened their close connections. At the heart of these are friendly ties and a comprehensive strategic partnership. Every year, the UAE marks Oman's National Day with a series of events, including the showcasing of the special attractiveness of the Omani flag, a hospitable greeting of Omani guests with flowers and gifts at border crossings and airports, as well as holding festive events in commercial centers and recreational establishments.
Under the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Oman is beginning a new stage of development, focusing on modernization, economic diversification, and sustainable growth, particularly through the 'Oman Vision 2040' program. This ambitious program aims at diversification and strengthening the national economy, achieving a sustainable economic growth level of 5% annually and increasing GDP per capita to 90%.
Non-oil trade between the two countries reached 51 billion dirhams last year compared to 48.7 billion in 2022, reflecting a growth rate of 5%. The UAE is the largest trading partner of Oman, both as the largest exporter to Oman and the largest importer from Oman. Furthermore, there is a push to establish a high-quality educational system, develop a national platform for research, innovation, and industries in the knowledge economy, and create an attractive environment for the Omani labor market.
