An oil tanker (MKD VYOM) flying the flag of the Marshall Islands was attacked by a drone boat 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat Governorate. The tanker was carrying approximately 59,463 metric tons of cargo. The attack caused a fire and explosion in the main engine room, resulting in the death of one crew member, an Indian national. The tanker's crew of 21 people (16 Indians, 4 Bangladeshis, and 1 Ukrainian) was evacuated in coordination with the Maritime Security Center by the commercial vessel MV SAND, which sails under the flag of Panama. One of the ships of the Royal Omani Navy is monitoring the condition of the damaged tanker and issuing necessary warnings to other vessels in the same maritime area.
